It's not clear to me how that does anything make doesn't already<br>
do. Which we already have, and various rules for input and ouput<br>
files/documents. I'm fine with doing more things with make and keeping<br>
reasonably independent pieces nicely separate and file-based, but I'm<br>
not sure the youth agree - they want databases, shiny logins and no<br>
version control.<br>

I don't see what the point of replacing standard make with snakemake<br>
is, but perhaps I'm missing something. It is at least available in<br>
debian/ubuntu so it's easy to try. Ultimately whoever is doing the<br>
work can do whatever they like, but each new tool adds a comprehension<br>
overhead. Is this one worth it?<br>

Personally this year I plan to spend as little time as possible on the<br>
system, and only fix the data, which is now in a much worse state than<br>
the system.<br>
